What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japenese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing and a sense of well-being. It is administered with various hand placements on the body and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. We are all responsible for our own “life force energy”. Reiki is a tool that can be utilized to maintain your energy at its optimum level. If one's “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself. Reiki restores the balance in one's life.


What is a Reiki Session Like?

A Reiki session is a very simple process. Reiki healing can be given anywhere at any time as no special equipment is needed. The practitioner is a channel which the energy is drawn through by the need or imbalance in the recipient. The recipient simply lies down and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position. The important thing is for the the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to get undressed as Reiki will pass through anything. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than the specific symptoms.


How Reiki Can Benefit You

It is possible to heal at any level of being, either physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Acute injuries can be aided to heal very quickly but chronic illness take longer. In some cases such as terminal illness, there is not enough time for the progress of the disease to be reversed.
